JOSEY GREENWELL SINGER & FITNESS MODEL

Josey Greenwell, best known as a bartender at Tribe Nashville, is working to make a name in another arena: country music. The Colgate Country Showdown champion in 2006, Greenwell is currently working on music for an upcoming project, songs drawn from his experience in the barroom and the bedroom.
Telling stories of heartbreak and happiness through music has been a long-time goal for the Kentucky native. After graduating from Bethlehem High School with honors, Greenwell enrolled at Western Kentucky University and started attending writer's nights in Nashville in hopes of making connections. After a record deal fell by the wayside, Greenwell recorded an independent project, My Life On the Radio, that helped him make major headway in the music business. Career highlights include a slot as opening act on Little Big Town's "A Place to Land" tour, and appearances at the 2010 Detroit Hoedown and the 2010 CMA Festival.
Greenwell credits his sturdy work ethic and a strong fanbase for his achievements to date, and he takes a break from slinging drinks and singing hits to chat with Out & About Newspaper about what the future holds.

What about a piece of music---melody, lyric, instrumentation---grabs you first?
Well, it's funny because I'm drawn to different things when listening to a song than I am when writing a song. When listening I usually am pulled in by the instrumentation and chord progressions or beats if it's pop. When writing a song, the melody will usually come to me first and then I build around that. But as a songwriter myself, it's always crazy to hear new songs and think of how they created that or what they had to be thinking when writing the piece together....good or bad!
People always ask me if I write songs about girls or guys. I actually think because of the fact I'm gay it puts a more interesting twist on who my songs are about or who they are directed to. Suspicion is always very enticing to the human mind, but like I said it's just interesting. Who I write my songs about is just an interesting factor about the making of it, not a make-or-break key factor to the listener. I hope people will take my songs and apply it to their own personal lives, whether they like boys or girls. Most of the time though they are about relationships I have with people, certain situations I've been in with them, or different wants and desires I have.
What's the best part about performing in front of a live audience?
I think the best part about performing in front of a live audience is really the fact that you are being given this opportunity to touch someone with a message, that's why I like to write all my songs based on personal experiences. Music is so powerful and can really just define someone's life and I think that is what a lot of mainstream artists are lacking in their songs is true depth, so I always try to keep a balance of emotion as well as that fun factor in everything I write.
What's been your favorite place to travel or tour?
You know, I haven't necessarily got to be on a full-out tour yet, but I will say that one of the most incredible experiences I've had was my short stint of opening with Little Big Town on their 2009 "A Place to Land" Tour. That was a huge eye-opener just for the fact that I actually saw people in the crowd singing some lyrics back to me off of my first album. I realized it was without a doubt what I wanted to do for a career. You know, it really is an amazing experience when you're in an arena and see people mouthing the words to a song you wrote in your bedroom. I would have to say that was the most fun I've had performing, not to mention Little Big Town were so talented and just downright good people. Hopefully I can really start up a tour with this next project I'm working on.
How has working as a bartender influenced your music?
It honestly has really helped me a lot. Seeing so many people every time I work has really helped me to see just what certain people like, what gets them in a good mood or what they don't like. With the diverse crowd that comes in, it's great writing material! (laughs) As much as I put myself into the songs I write, I think if certain people would like them just to keep it very universal. I like to hone in on the songs that people are having a good time with and kind of analyze why they like them. When I first started bartending, no one really knew I had already been through a lot with my music career and with a label here in town, so I kind of kept to myself and observed while I started to write for this next project. Everyone has a song; it's just about pulling it out of them! So if you're ever seeing me with this blank look on my face, that's usually what I'm doing is thinking. Being a bartender not only has influenced my music, but also given me the opportunity to be flexible with my schedule if I needed to go somewhere on a whim. So I owe most of that "thank you" to everyone at Tribe for allowing me to chase my dreams and still be a part of their team.
What are your main goals for your music career?
Breaking out! I'm working my way up to hopefully becoming a household name and just getting myself out there to the world. You can get so wrapped up in a bubble here in Nashville and that's why I've been wanting to and in fact have taken a step out on this next project with my sound. I think country was great for me at first, and it really helped me to be able to add true depth to my songs, but I'm now using what I've learned and moving everything towards a very universal sound a lot more with my writing style. It's actually pretty great so far, and I want a product that the whole world can listen to, something unheard of while keeping that real element and truth to it all.
I'm definitely going to keep my online presence strong because after all that's what is pushing me today. I love seeing all the comments and answering all the messages and different things on my YouTube videos and it's fun to let everyone in on different things happening. I definitely am going to be filming everything...so stayed tuned in to JoseyTV!

UPDATE: Josey is currently in Miami Beach, FL. singing, modeling, partying, and promoting; he just appeared on the cover of DNA Magazine showing a perfect body that sent shock waves through the fitness world; and appeared inside in photos with Rodiney Santiago [rumored to be his current boyfriend] of Logo's "A-List NY" fame; their picture together will appear on the cover of the 2012 International Gay Guide "Sparticus".  Josey will be in Berlin in early spring 2012 to promote the guide. Also, he had a major article in the fitness magazine "Men's Exercise" recently showing his awesome fitness routine.  Josey was one of my picks for 2012 Mr. FitHotGuy and I love his music; but It's hard to ignore what may be one of the most classic male physique beauties in a long time. MIAMI'S HOT DANNY MIAMI aka DANIEL SILVEIRA

His name is Daniel but you can call him Danny. He is a nationally certified trainer and top fitness model.

He has been going to the gym since he was 14.  He became a trainer because he discovered it was my passion when he went to the gym for the first time. For as long as he can remember he has always had the desire and felt compelled to help people. A lot of trainers don't look or act like trainers; and one of the most important things when it comes to choosing the right trainer is their personality.  Danny is one of Miami's best personal trainers because he likes  his clients and gets to know them; and they gets to know him too.

INTERVIEW WITH CARLOS FREIRE

Carlos Freire is with Major NY, Urban (Milano), Vision(LA), 40Graus Models - mother agency (Brazil).
When did you start modeling?
CARLOS FREIRE : Close to finishing my university, I started to do some modeling jobs in my town and the northeast of Brazil; then, when I finished my studies I went to live in Rio de Janeiro and really began to focus on the modeling career.

Did you want to do it right away, or did you take some time to think about it?
CARLOS FREIRE : Yes, I took some time to think about it... I was almost finished with my studies, and was already working, but sometimes I was thinking it was so boring to me, because in the area of computer stuff you spend all of your your time in a room in front of a computer, then I thought I'd try something different.

Tell us more about Brazil and what you like the most about living there?
CARLOS FREIRE : Brazil is amazing, it's a big country, 26 states, each one with its culture, its customs. One of the most beautiful places is the coast area, with many amazing and different beaches.

The thing that I like the most most about living there are the beaches, the city that I was born in and that I was living in until I started modeling, called João Pessoa is in the northeast, it's a coastal city. To me it's like a lost paradise, the population is not too big, there are a lot of natural places, also my family and many friends live there.

What about your family, do they support your modeling career?
CARLOS FREIRE : My family is cool, they support me in what I decide to do, they trust me, I am very grateful for that. The only problem is the distance, sometimes I miss them.

Do you have any brothers and sisters?
CARLOS FREIRE : I have one beautiful sister, her name is Luanna, older than me, she's 28. But she's not a model, she is a doctor.

Many Brazilians have an exotic look. What is your ethnic origin?
CARLOS FREIRE : In fact I don't really know, my surname is Theorga came from Portugal, but my parents are Brazilians, my grandparents also;  the Brazilian people are very mixed, it is usually hard to know your exact ethnic origin.

What's the biggest modeling job you've done so far?
CARLOS FREIRE : I did Roberto Cavalli Menswear S/S 09. And I shot Armani Exchange Fall 09 here in NY, both campaigns.

What kind of jobs would you like to do in the future?
CARLOS FREIRE: There are many kinds of jobs that I'd like to do in the future, a lot of big brands also. I'd like do jeans and I would like to do fragrance one day, never did before.
Vision LA
What is your favorite modeling city? Is it NY, Milan or Brazil?
CARLOS FREIRE : I don't have a favorite market yet, all the countries that I've already been to were good and also I haven't been to Europe yet, maybe I will go this year. A lot of places that I want to visit in future, I just started my journey.

Runway Blue Man
What do you think is special about Brazilian models?
CARLOS FREIRE : First because the mixture of races, we have great variety of looks, and second - Brazilian models are usually positive persons, good energy... always happy. I think that contributes to the success.

You have an amazing body and you're in great shape! Do you feel relaxed posing in underwear and swimwear?
CARLOS FREIRE : Yes, I am relaxed, it's normal, when you work with good professionals it is easy and fast, it's the same to any other job.

How do you prepare for these photoshoots?
CARLOS FREIRE: To be prepared I just take care of my body a bit more a couple of days before the shoot.
Rick Day via Made in Brazil
Tell us something about your workout routine. How often do you lift weights?
CARLOS FREIRE : My routine is very simple, I work out every day an hour at the gym with weights, but also I'm frequently doing different sports.

Do you have to maintain definition all year long, or do you have a period when you just work on your muscle mass?
CARLOS FREIRE : No, I don't have different periods. When I was younger, I was an active child, always doing some sport, I did swimming, judo, soccer and living in the beach, so I always had an athletic body, but skinny. Then when I was 15 I started working out to get more muscle mass. So, until now I tried to keep my body always like that, strong and athletic. So it's good for everything, my job, health and to do any sport.

Do you jog, ride the bike....do you have a special cardio routine?
CARLOS FREIRE : No, I don't have a special cadio routine, but I love to ride the bike and run. Here in New York I already went to several different places by bike, all bridges and parks, it's really nice.

How do you spend your summers?
CARLOS FREIRE : Yes, I try spending my summers in my city João Pessoa, with family and friends. My family is huge and we have a summer house in a paradise beach that everybody goes to, uncles, cousins... All the time on the beach I'm diving, playing soccer, boarding.... I always had a lot of fun over there.

What is your favorite beach in Brazil?
CARLOS FREIRE : Many, like I said, the Brazilian coast is amazing. But I love one, I have a lot of history there, called PIPA, 2 hours by car from my city.

Tetu mag

Are you worried about favelas? and are things improving concerning them?
CARLOS FREIRE : Maybe my city doesn't have many favelas, but Rio has a lot and the things are still bad... we have a lot of political corruption in Brazil as well, and with that it is difficult to fix things.

What is your favorite place to go out in Brazil?
CARLOS FREIRE : Many different places. But I am not a great fan of clubs, I prefer to go to some music concert (we have really nice bands and different style of music in Brazil - Reggae, Rock). Hanging out with friends at the beach, go to some trip...

Ph. Michael Roberts
What do you most admire in Brazilian people?
CARLOS FREIRE : The energy.

Who is the most beautiful Brazilian model (female)?
CARLOS FREIRE : We have a lot of beautiful top models, it's hard...we have Isabeli Fontana, Adriana Lima, Giselle, Ana Claudia Michels... they are different beauties, I cannot pick only one
.

Favorite place to eat?
CARLOS FREIRE : Home! I can cook, so I love my own food, I'm a very creative cook, I'm always preparing exotic plates
.
What would you say, what is the best Brazilian meal that we all have to try once we are in Brazil?
CARLOS FREIRE : Brazilian Barbecue
